Renew, replace or migrate? Make the decision before the deadline.
Plan a firewall change around business applications, support dates and an agreed cutover—not just an appliance purchase.

| Situation | Useful next step |
|---|---|
| Renewal approaching | Confirm exact model, support and subscription dates, current performance and next-year requirements. Compare renewal and replacement scope. |
| Moving from another vendor | Inventory rules, NAT, routes, VPNs and dependencies. Treat policy conversion as a review task, not a guarantee that every setting maps directly. |
| Opening more branches | Map site-specific traffic and operational ownership. Agree policy consistency, logging and management before choosing hardware. |
A practical migration sequence
Discover and clean up
Identify business-critical applications, active rules, remote users and connectivity. Confirm owners before removing obsolete policies.
Design and stage
Agree interfaces, addressing, routing, NAT, security policies, VPNs and logging. Review subscriptions and the target software release.
Test and schedule
Define application checks, outage tolerance, rollback triggers and who can approve the change. Schedule a realistic cutover window.
Cut over and hand over
Validate agreed services, monitor traffic and document the delivered configuration. Assign support and renewal responsibilities.
What to include in your first enquiry
Share the existing vendor and model, number of sites, internet links, renewal deadline and preferred change window. A high-level description is enough to begin. Arrange a secure exchange separately if configuration files are needed; do not send passwords through this form.
