Source: Palo Alto Networks hardware reference. Port speed is not threat-prevention throughput. Check the official electrical specifications and the proposed power configuration when calculating usable PoE capacity.
Build a device schedule before choosing
List every powered device, the power it requires, its Ethernet speed and where it connects. Include room for planned additions. Then list your fibre uplinks: needing a 10Gbps-capable connection changes the comparison even if the number of powered devices is small.
Check whether the site still needs separate switching for its port count, topology or resilience requirements. Integrated PoE does not automatically make a separate switch unnecessary.
How to brief Invitty
Send the device count, power requirements from device datasheets, uplink speeds, internet bandwidth and security services you want enabled. Ask for both models to be priced against the same support and subscription term if either could fit.
What your proposal should make clear
01 · The right scope
Describe the locations, applications and traffic the firewall must protect. Separate essential features from future plans, then compare models against the same requirements.
02 · The complete cost
Request hardware, security subscriptions, support duration, accessories and implementation as separate lines. Compare total scope and renewal terms, not only the appliance price.
03 · A workable deployment
Agree policy review, migration responsibilities, a change window, acceptance checks and handover. A successful purchase includes a plan for putting the firewall into service.
